About NIHONGO WORK

Free Japanese Learning Platform for Bangladeshi Learners

NIHONGO WORK (にほんごワーク) is a completely free Japanese language learning platform built specifically for Bangladeshi learners who want to study Japanese to work in Japan. Our lessons cover everything from absolute zero (hiragana and katakana) all the way through JLPT N4, with specialized modules for people aiming at Specified Skilled Worker (SSW / 特定技能) visas — particularly in the caregiving and electrical construction trades.

Every flashcard, every quiz, and every grammar explanation on this site is available in three languages: Japanese (日本語), English, and Bengali (বাংলা). This trilingual approach is what sets NIHONGO WORK apart from other Japanese learning sites — you can absorb grammar and vocabulary explanations in the language that is most comfortable for you, then practice the output entirely in Japanese.

Who this site is for

Bangladesh is at the start of a major migration pipeline to Japan. Under the SSW visa program, Japan is actively recruiting caregiving workers, electricians, construction workers, machine part and tooling workers, and factory workers from Bangladesh and neighbouring countries. To qualify, candidates need to pass the JFT-Basic or JLPT N4, and in many cases a sector-specific Japanese test on top of it.

Most existing Japanese learning resources are aimed at English speakers or Chinese speakers. NIHONGO WORK fills the gap for Bengali speakers who would otherwise have to rely on English-language material they may not be fully fluent in. If you are:

  • A Bangladeshi student planning to go to Japan for language school or university
  • A nurse, caregiver, or healthcare graduate preparing for the SSW 介護 visa
  • An electrician or electrical engineering graduate targeting the SSW 電気工事 path
  • An IT engineer aiming at a highly-skilled professional visa
  • A teacher or tutor teaching Japanese in Bangladesh who needs free curriculum material
  • Anyone curious about Japanese language and Japanese culture

What you will learn here

The site is organised into focused modules. You can work through them in roadmap order or jump straight to the one you need right now.

Kana (ひらがな・カタカナ) — All 92 basic kana characters with typing drills, confusing-pair tips, and a 2-week study plan.
Vocabulary N5 / N4 — Over 1,500 essential words sorted by JLPT level, with Bengali meanings and example sentences.
Kanji N5 / N4 — 374 N5 kanji plus 367 N4 kanji, including a 29-set visual series on the pictographic origins of N5 kanji.
Grammar & Particles — N5 sentence patterns and 18 essential particles explained with example sentences.
Verb & Adjective Conjugation — Master the te-form, nai-form, past tense, and all the standard N5/N4 conjugations.
Time & Numbers — Counting, dates, times, and duration expressions needed for daily life and work.
Business Japanese — A 99-question workplace etiquette quiz covering Japanese office culture for SSW and technical intern workers.
Electrician Vocabulary — 599 technical terms for electrical construction trade Japanese.
SSW Caregiving (介護) Japanese — 384+ kanji and words across 11 practical caregiving categories.
Study Roadmap — A month-by-month guide from zero to N4, to passing the SSW tests, to landing a job in Japan.

New modules are added regularly. All content is free, with no account required and no paywall.

How to use this site effectively

The fastest path to JLPT N4 and employment-ready Japanese is daily, low-volume practice rather than long weekend cram sessions. We recommend that learners:

  1. Start with the Kana module and memorise all 46 hiragana + 46 katakana within 2 weeks.
  2. Move to the basic grammar module and learn 5 new sentence patterns per week.
  3. In parallel, do 10 minutes of vocabulary flashcards every day — even on busy days.
  4. After 2 months of consistent study, start on kanji. Use the pictograph-origin series to make memorisation visual.
  5. Once you reach mid-N5, start the sector-specific module that matches your career goal (caregiving, electrical, or business).
  6. When you hit late-N4, take a practice JLPT or JFT-Basic test, identify your weak areas, and drill them.

The Study Guide and Learning Roadmap pages explain this process in more detail with a week-by-week schedule.

About the instructor

The content on NIHONGO WORK is designed by a Japanese language instructor with over 10 years of experience teaching Japanese to international learners, including students from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Vietnam, Nepal, and Indonesia. The pedagogy is based on real classroom feedback from SSW candidates and technical interns who have successfully gone through the Japanese visa process.
